thoughts on the divide between parties

I want to talk about a commercial disease that's eating away at the heart of American politics. Social parasites, milking hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising revenue (roughly 336 million in 2005) as just another way to make a buck. I want to talk about the influence of the media over modern politics, and wall that's being constructed between Democrats and Republicans. More importantly, I want to talk about Fox News, and the ultra-conservative pundits that lap it up.

Every week or so i try to watch Fox News for as long as I can stand it. (never usually lasting more than 20 minutes) Call it morbid curiosity, but I wanna know what these people are feeding us. I've got it on right now, as a matter of fact. I'm curious to know the demographic these people are aiming at. Right now it's, "Red Eye with blah blah". It's just your basic peanut gallery, hosted by some turd. They talk about (interuption: I swear to you the host is showing a picture of a unicorn that he drew. THIS is my point people) mundane "hot topics" which, incidentally, don't have anything to do with the real problems this country is facing. I mean, how can a news channel have such an obvious bias? What created this? They're our communal problems, yet these people can't help but focus on this "Us vs. You", "Red vs. Blue".

Don't even get me started on Ann Coulter.

(oh, they're talking about a large toad now. how lovely)

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I think we need to not be at each other's throats so much. I think our news should be honest, and poignant. I believe the messenger shouldn't outshine the message. I don't understand how these pundits can spin our tragedies to increase book sales, yet offer nothing constructive to our society. I don't understand it, so i can't take them seriously.

Think about it, how much can we really get done when all we're doing is blaming each other?
